United Airlines is offering cheap flights to Italy from a number of U.S. airports, with fares starting as low as $183 one - way.

Travel period: travel must be complete by April 2, 2009.
A Saturday night minimum stay is required and a maximum stay of 30 days is permitted.
Tickets must be purchased by March 2.

»» “Contribution Made to American Society by Italian Immigrants” - Italian Night in Salt Lake City, UT

The Italian Center of the West of Salt Lake City, UT, is sponsoring a night of dialogue about the contribution made to American society by Italian immigrants.

A Documentary Video, “Italians in America“, will present some of the outstanding efforts made by Italian-Americans as well as the phenomenal influence of the Italian people on the history of America. Joseph Campanella narrates the history of Italian immigration to America, beginning with the trickle of Northern Italians in the early 19th Century to the deluge of Southern Italians between the 1880’s and 1920’s.

The documentary also features interviews with a dozen prominent Italian-Americans including Geraldine Ferraro and Rudy Giuliani and the great influence of Italian food in gaining acceptance for Italians are highlighted.
A discussion panel — with pizza and Italian finger food — will follow the Documentary.
