»» Ancient Rome 3D: the Digital Re-creation of the Ancient Rome Available on Internet

Beginning today, “Rome Reborn”, the digital re-creation of ancient Rome is now available to all, thanks to Google.

Until today, to enjoy this complete simulation of the ancient Rome, you had to travel to Rome and visit the Museum of the Diocletian Baths. Now, this project titled “Ancient Rome 3D“, is published to the Internet, making it available to Google Earth users.

Ancient Rome 3D shows almost the entire city within the 13-mile-long Aurelian Walls as it appeared in A.D. 320. At that time, Rome had reached the peak of its development with an estimated population of 1 million.
“Information bubbles” provide basic and advanced information — translated into English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Dutch — for more than 250 sites identified in the ancient city.

To experience Ancient Rome 3D, you have to install the Google Earth software (at earth.google.com), select the Gallery folder on the left side of the screen and then click on “Ancient Rome 3D”.
The video below explains you how to do that, also providing a preview of Ancient Rome 3D.
