»» Slow Food: Not Only Great Food
Slow Food movement is an international society aiming to perpetuate the culture of great food and wine, as opposed to the fast-food culture. The manifesto of Slow Food reads: “…against those who confound efficiency with frenzy [...] against the culture of fast food, let us rediscover local cuisines.”

Slow Food has now become a specialty food conservation society. Its philosophy is enjoying of food and also rescuing “endangered” produce from all over the world.
Italian food and the Italian cuisine with its countless regional recipes and produce, naturally fall into this society. Italian gastronome Carlo Petrini was one of the main founders of Slow Food.
The major Slow Food event is held in Italy. It’s “Salone del Gusto” — “Taste Show”, taking place this week-end in Turin. It brings together specialty producers from all over the world.
Slow Food is not just a biennial food fair, but also an immense restaurant offering visitors the chance to taste the finest food and wine. It’s a five-day gourmet fun.
