»» Truffle Hunting in italy - Tips

What are the best season and areas for hunting truffles in Italy?

Autumn is the season. Usually truffle hunting starts in Sepetmber, however it depends on the weather — on how much rain falls.

Major areas: Tuscany, Piedmont (white truffle in Alba and all across Langhe and Monferrato areas), Umbria (for black truffle), Tuscany, Marches (Acqualagna and Montefeltro areas).

To experience a truffle-hunting you have to look for a truffle hunter.
Local hotels or typical restaurants serving truffle dishes can give you advice on how contact any local truffle hunters.
You could also locate truffle hunters available at the truffle fairs and festivals held on weekends in villages of the areas above listed, throughout the Fall.
Or, in alternative, you have the option of tour operators arranging truffle-hunting expeditions with local truffle hunters and the specially-trained dogs.
