»» Sacco and Vanzetti Story at Sarasota Film Festival

For Italian Americans who don’t know about Sacco and Vanzetti’s story, the Sarasota Film Festival taking place in Sarasota, Florida, offers an occasion to do such knowledge.

‘Sacco and Vanzetti’ is one of the films included in the selections of 2006 Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, hosted at Sarasota’s Burns Court Cinemas, in Sarasota, Florida, from April 6 through 9.

The Sarasota Film Society and Emerging Pictures, a New York-based digital cinema network, will showcase 11 films during the festival.

Among the selected films, we suggest:

Sacco and Vanzetti

This heartbreaking story of two Italian immigrant radicals who were executed in 1927 offers insights into present-day issues of civil liberties, the rights of immigrants and the death penalty.

Sweet Dreams
By Eric Latek

Duration: 124 min.
An innovative film that banishes the stereotype of the Italian-American man, the sport of boxing, and the common assumptions of what it means to be tough.
