Cities

-Reggio Calabria- Founded in the 8th cent. B.C., destroyed several times by violent earthquakes, now it is a modern city, the main center of the region.

-Cosenza- Notable its Cathedral with 13th-c. Gothic facade and the church of San Francesco built in 1217.

-Crotone- Founded by Greek colonists -- Kroton was the name of the ancient Greek city, between the 7th and the 6th century B.C. Here Pythagoras founded his school.

Sea: 800 km of coast -- Tyrrhenian Sea Ionian Sea -- with spectacular cliffs and beaches among the most appreciated of Italy.

Archaeological sites testimony the Magna Graecia's roots in cities founded by ancient Greeks (Crotone, Sibari, Locri). Most famous archaeological evidence are "Riace Bronzes", the symbol of Calabria, exhibited in "Museo Nazionale della Magna Grecia in Reggio Calabria", one of the most important archaeological museums of Italy.
