Abruzzo offers visitors in a small space a extraordinary variety of landscape and climate. In a few kilometres one can jump from the high mountains (the highest mountains of Appenines chain, with 2914mt of Gran Sasso d'Italia) to the Adriatic coastline.

-L’Aquila- Capital of the region, L’Aquila is one of the highest towns in Italy. Founded in the 12th cent. Among the main sights: the Spanish fortress (Forte Spagnolo), erected by the Spanish viceroy Don Pedro de Toledo in 1534, church of San Bernardino di Siena (1472), the "Fontana delle 99 Canelle" ("Fountain of 99 Spouts") erected in 1272. Many architectural treasures in L'Aquila were destroyed from earthquakes.

-Pescara- Main business and trade center in the region, Pescara is a lively modern city on the sea with wonderful beaches in the surroundings. Historical monuments worthy of interest include the Gabriele D’Annunzio's house and the museum "Museo delle Genti d’Abruzzo".

-Sulmona- Historic town located on the mountains, Sulmona was an important Roman municipality and was the birthplace of the poet Ovidio in 43 B.C. Interesting sights include the Romanesque Cathedral of San Panfilo, the Palace including the Civic Museum, and the Aqueduct (1256).

Natural sights

Abruzzo offers also a great number of wildlife areas.
The region is well-known also as the "Region of Parks", because boasts a number of National and Regional parks, State and Regional natural reserves and WWF oasi. Most famous park is The National Park of Abruzzo, inhabited by bears, chamois, deer, wolves and other endangered species.
Sea: low and sandy shores prevail along the coastline of Abruzzo, attracting crowds of tourists in Summer.

Appeciated seaside resorts throughout the region, from Martinsicuro to Silvi, to Francavilla al Mare, just to name a few, offer high level accommodation and nightlife facilities, such as night clubs, bars, discos, restaurants.
During the winter, many resorts on the Abruzzo mountains offer winter sports lovers numerous possibilities.
